Liberty Transit History and General Information
As of June 2010, Liberty Transit has employed 22 new employees including 1 general manager, 2 administrative personnel, 1 mechanic, 3 road supervisors, 1 bus hostler, and 14 drivers. Liberty Transit also supports local businesses for many ongoing operational needs.
The first year of service includes three routes operating in Hinesville, Flemington, and Fort Stewart. Bus stops during this first year of service will be located in:
· Downtown Hinesville
· Liberty Regional Medical Center
· Winn Army Medical Center
· Public library
· US 84 post office
· Family housing and commercial areas on Fort Stewart,
· Hotels and restaurants along US 84
· Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS)
· Health Department
· Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) Liberty campus
· Many others
Following a one year ridership survey, refined routes for the system will be established and bus passenger shelters selected by the Transit Steering Committee to blend into the historic feel of our community while providing comfort and protection to waiting passengers will be installed.
